Και για απόψε…η μουσική πρόταση για την αλλαγή του χρόνου: Eric Burdon and The Animals - As the Years Go Passing By

Η εκδοχή των Eric Burdon & The Animals στο “As the Years Go Passing By” κυκλοφόρησε το 1968 μέσα από το διπλό άλμπουμ Love Is

Το “As the Years Go Passing By” αποτελεί μία από τις πιο χαρακτηριστικές blues στιγμές της δεύτερης περιόδου των Eric Burdon & The Animals.

Eric Burdon – φωνητικά Zoot Money – keyboards Andy Summers – κιθάρα (μετέπειτα μέλος των The Police) John Weider – κιθάρα, βιολί Barry Jenkins – ντραμς

Στο “As the Years Go Passing By”, η μπάντα επιλέγει μια πιο αργή, βαριά blues προσέγγιση.

Nights in white satin
Never reaching the end
Letters I've written
Never meaning to send

Beauty I'd always missed
With these blind eyes before
Just what the truth is, baby
I can't say anymore

I love you
Yes, I love you
Oh, I love
Yes, I love
Oh, I love you

I'm gazing at people
I watch [?] hand in hand
Just what I'm going through, baby
I know they will never never never never understand

Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be people
You will be in the end

I love you
Yes, I love you
Well, I love
Yes, I love
Oh, I love you

Το Nights in White Satin" είναι τραγούδι των Moody Blues σε στίχους Τζάστιν Χέιγουορντ που κυκλοφόρησε στο άλμπουμ τους Days of Future Passed.
Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.

Cause I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.

Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going through they can't understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.

And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I've always missed, with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.

Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
Cause I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Breath deep
The gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day's useless
Energy spent

Impassioned lovers
Wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love
And has none
New mother picks up
And suckles her son
Senior citizens
Wish they were young

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And

Which is an Illusion

A live performance of 'One More Cup Of Coffee', Germany, April 21, 1976

Your breath is sweet Your eyes are like two jewels in the sky Your back is straight your hair is smooth On the pillow where you lie But I don't sense affection No gratitude or love Your loyalty is not to me But to the stars above One more cup of coffee for the road One more cup of coffee 'fore I go. To the valley below. Your daddy he's an outlaw And a wanderer by trade He'll teach you how to pick and choose And how to throw the blade He oversees his kingdom So no stranger does intrude His voice it trembles as he calls out For another plate of food. One more cup of coffee for the road One more cup of coffee 'fore I go. To the valley below. Your sister sees the future Like your mama and yourself You've never learned to read or write There's no books upon your shelf And your pleasure knows no limits Your voice is like a meadowlark But your heart is like an ocean Mysterious and dark. One more cup of coffee for the road One more cup of coffee 'fore I go. To the valley below.

The rooms were so much colder then
My father was a soldier then
And times were very hard
When I was young

I smoked my first cigarette at ten
And for girls, I had a bad yen
And I had quite a ball
When I was young
When I was young, it was more important
Pain more painful
Laughter much louder
Yeah, when I was young
When I was young

I met my first love at thirteen
She was brown and I was pretty green
And I learned quite a lot when I was young
When I was young

When I was young
It was more important
Pain more painful
Laughter much louder
Yeah, when I was young
When I was young

My faith was so much stronger then
I believed in fellow men
And I was so much older then
When I was young
Eric Burdon...
