Uriah Heep - July Morning [Songs About July]

"July Morning" από τους Uriah Heep δεν είναι απλώς ένα τραγούδι — είναι μια ηχητική ανατολή. Κυκλοφόρησε το 1971 στο άλμπουμ Look at Yourself και αποτελεί έναν δεκάλεπτο επικό ύμνο γεμάτο συναισθηματική ένταση, αναζητήσεις και προοδευτικό rock μεγαλείο.

Το τραγούδι ξεκινάει με μελωδικά πλήκτρα και καταλήγει σε μια απογειωτική κορύφωση γεμάτη ενέργεια.

Συμμετοχή του Manfred Mann στο Moog synthesizer δίνει ένα σχεδόν «διαστημικό» συναίσθημα στο τραγούδι.

Στίχος-ορόσημο: “There I was on a July morning, looking for love…” (Στεκόμουν σ' ένα πρωινό του Ιουλίου, αναζητώντας την αγάπη...)

Στη Βουλγαρία, το τραγούδι έχει μετατραπεί σε σύμβολο ελευθερίας και αναγέννησης. Κάθε χρόνο, την αυγή της 1ης Ιουλίου, χιλιάδες άνθρωποι συγκεντρώνονται στις ακτές της Μαύρης Θάλασσας για να υποδεχθούν τον ήλιο, τραγουδώντας αυτό το κομμάτι. Η παράδοση αυτή λέγεται July Morning (Джулай Морнинг).

Ο Μύθος της “Γυναίκας με τα Μαύρα”, ή αλλιώς “Μαύρη Λαίδη”, εμφανίστηκε κατά την διάρκεια του "Πολέμου των Ρόδων" (1455-1487), όπου ένας νεαρός δασοφύλακας ζούσε, μαζί με την σύζυγο και τον γιο του, σε ένα εξοχικό σπίτι στο Bradley Woods της Αγγλίας. Ο δασοφύλακας αναγκάστηκε να εγκαταλείψει την οικογένειά του προκειμένου να λάβει μέρος στον Πόλεμο και, πολλούς μήνες αργότερα, η σύζυγός του δεν είχε λάβει ακόμα νέα του. Έτσι, απεγνωσμένη καθώς ήταν, έπαιρνε το παιδί της και περπατούσε κάθε μέρα μέχρι την άκρη του δάσους. Έστεκε εκεί, περιμένοντας μάταια να διακρίνει τη φιγούρα του συζύγου της να επιστρέφει από τον Πόλεμο.

Λίγους μήνες αργότερα, ο Στρατός του Εχθρού διέσχισε την περιοχή του Bradley Woods. Για κακή της τύχη, καθώς έβγαινε για τον συνηθισμένο της περίπατο, απαντήθηκε με τρεις άντρες του εχθρικού αυτού Στρατού. Την βίασαν, την χτύπησαν θανάσιμα, άρπαξαν το γιο της και χάθηκαν με το γέλιο τους να ηχεί μέσα στο δάσος. Η γυναίκα, χτυπημένη και ταπεινωμένη, χώθηκε μέσα στο δάσος ψάχνοντας μάταια για το παιδί της. Ξέροντας πια πως δεν θα τους ξαναδεί, θεώρησε την αγαπημένη οικογένειά της νεκρή και ντύθηκε στα μαύρα.

Μετά το θάνατό της, και 400 χρόνια αργότερα (1882-1889), οι κάτοικοι της περιοχής επέμεναν πως έβλεπαν συνεχώς μια μυστηριώδη, μαυροφορεμένη γυναίκα να περιπλανιέται εκεί τριγύρω. Φημολογείται πως αν κάποιος επισκεφτεί το δάσος την Παραμονή των Χριστουγέννων και φωνάξει «Μαύρη Λαίδη, Μαύρη Λαίδη, εγώ έκλεψα το μωρό σας!» η γυναίκα εμφανίζεται για να πάρει πίσω το παιδί της.

Ο Ken Hensley (κιθαρίστας και συνθέτης των Uriah Heep, 1969-1980), σε μία συνέντευξή του, δήλωσε πως το τραγούδι "Lady in Black" γράφτηκε στις αρχές του Νοέμβρη, 1971 κι αποτέλεσε πηγή έμπνευσης από το όραμα μιας άγνωστης κοπέλας.

«Είναι αλήθεια ότι είδα αυτή τη νεαρή κοπέλα και ήταν πράγματι ντυμένη σε μαύρο χρώμα. Τα μαλλιά της όντως ανέμιζαν στον άνεμο», παραδέχτηκε, «αλλά δεν ήρθε "σε μένα". Απλώς περπατούσε στο δρόμο, έξω από το ξενοδοχείο μου, στη βορειοδυτική Αγγλία, ενώ βρισκόμουν εκεί για περιοδεία. Έτσι, μόλις πήρα την κιθάρα μου κι άφησα την φαντασία μου ελεύθερη, οι νεογέννητοι στίχοι με οδήγησαν στην ολοκλήρωση αυτού του τραγουδιού!»

" Ήρθε ένα πρωί .....ένα μοναχικό Κυριακάτικο πρωινό ......τα μαλλιά της ανέμιζαν στο χειμωνιάτικο αεράκι......δεν ξέρω πώς με βρήκε .....γιατί στο ΄σκοτάδι΄ περπατούσα και με κύκλωνε καταστροφή απο μια μάχη που δεν μπορούσα να κερδίσω ......."

" Με ρώτησε το όνομα του εχθρού μου ......της είπα ....η ανάγκη κάποιων ανθρώπων να παλέψουν και να σκοτώσουν τ " αδέλφια " τους χωρίς να σκέφτονται την αγάπη ή τον Θεό ......και την ικέτεψα να μου δώσει άλογα να ποδοπατήσω τους εχθρούς μου .....τόσο μεγάλο ήταν το πάθος μου να εξαφανίσω αυτό το χάσιμο της ζωής μου ...."

" Αλλά μου είπε ότι δεν θεωρεί μάχη αυτό που μειώνει τους ανθρπώπους σε ζώα .... κάτι που τόσο εύκολα αρχίζεις αλλά είναι αδύνατον να τελειώσεις .....για αυτήν ...η " μητέρα όλων των ανθρώπων " με έχει συμβουλέψει τόσο σοφά ώστε να μην φοβάμαι να περπατήσω μόνος ξανά ....και με ρώτησε αν θα πρεπε να παραμείνει ......"

" Κυρία μου άπλωσε το χέρι σου φώναξα και άσε με να ξαπλώσω δίπλα σου ....έχε πίστη και εμπιστοσύνη σε μένα μου είπε .....και γέμισε την καρδιά μου με ζωή ......δεν υπάρχει καμία δύναμη στους αριθμούς ...μην έχεις τέτοια παρανόηση ....αλλά όταν με χρειάζεσαι να είσαι σίγουρος ότι κάπου εδώ κοντά θα είμαι ......."

" Έτσι αφού μου μίλησε γύρισε ....και δεν είχα λόγια να πώ .....στάθηκα και την κοίταζα μέχρι το μαύρο της φόρεμα να χαθεί .......η σκέψη μου πλέον δεν είχε υπάρξει ποτέ ευκολότερη .....τώρα ξέρω ότι δεν είμαι μόνος βρίσκω μια νέα "καρδιά" κάθε φορά που σκέφτομαι εκείνη την θυελλώδη μέρα ...."

" Και αν μια μέρα έρθει σε σένα .....σκέψου βαθιά μέσα απ την σοφία των λέξεων της .....πάρε κουράγιο απ αυτήν σαν ανταμοιβή ......και δώστης τα χαιρετίσματα μου ......"

Καλό Μήνα σ' όλες τις φίλες και τους φίλους μου!
Δύσκολα θα μπορούσα να αφιερώσω κάποιο άλλο τραγούδι σε σας για το ξεκίνημα αυτού του υπέροχου μήνα... Έχει αφήσει πολλές σφραγίδες στο διαβατήριο της ψυχής μου και φαντάζομαι ότι το ίδιο θα συμβαίνει και σε πολλές-ούς από σας!... Ας αφεθούμε λοιπόν, χωρίς πολλά πολλά, στα μαγικά μονοπάτια που αχνοφαίνονται στα γυρίσματά του κι ας ξαναζωντανέψουμε όλα όσα μας συγκίνησαν ή ν' ανιχνεύσουμε εκείνα που ετοιμάζονται να μας συγκινήσουν και μας γνέφουν!... Τι μήνας κι αυτός!... Το πιο ενεργειακό, ίσως, από τα χρονικά δωδεκατημόρια που αποτελούν τα χρονικά θραύσματα με τα οποία πορευόμαστε... Μιλώ, θα πείτε, υποκειμενικά και δεν έχετε άδικο, αλλά όσες φορές "ανοίχτηκα" υποδεχόμενος εξομολογήσεις άλλων, με έκπληξη διαπίστωσα ότι η πλειονότητά τους, συνέτεινε στην ίδια διαπίστωση!... 

Η καρδιά του καλοκαιριού στο Βόρειο και η καρδιά του χειμώνα στο Νότιο Ημισφαίριο, είναι λογικό ν' αποτελεί την πιο φορτισμένη, την πιο ερωτική, την πιο φλογερή (και παγωμένη αντίστοιχα...) χρονική νησίδα στο πέλαγος της κατάτμησης αυτής της αινιγματικής αλλά κι αυθαίρετης, ταυτόχρονα, θεώρησης της 4ης διάστασης... Ο Μήνας που "Τα Μεγάλα Μάτια Της Μισάνοιξαν Μεσ' Στα Σπλάχνα Του" όπως έγραψε ο Μεγάλος Ελύτης κι ίσως δεν ήταν τυχαίο που Αυτόν τον μήνα διάλεξε για τη μαγική τελετουργία που ενσωμάτωσε στο "Άξιον Εστί" Του... κι αν δεν χρησιμοποιώ το δικό του τραγούδι για να χαιρετήσω τον κορυφαίο της δωδεκάδας, είναι επειδή το συγκεκριμένο, πέρα από την αριστουργηματική δομή του ανήκει σε πολύ ευρύτερο, γλωσσικά, τμήμα της ανθρωπότητας... και για να κλείσω, επίσης υποκειμενικά, κάθε του στίχος και αναφορά, λες κι αποτελούν μιαν έντονα εμφατική περιγραφή από φάσεις της δικής μου ζωής... Ας είναι οι μέρες Του και φέτος στις πιο αξιομνημόνευτες... Να περνάτε όμορφα και απολαύστε τους χυμούς του συναρπαστικού αυτού μήνα μέχρι και την τελευταία ρανίδα τους, επειδή μόνο έτσι θα μπορέσετε να εντοπίσετε όλα του τα πολύτιμα κοιτάσματα!...
