Γνωστοί για τις ικανότητές τους ως τραγουδοποιοί και μουσικοί, οι Dire Straits δημιούργησαν μια συμφωνία με κιθαριστικά, riff και solo στο "Sultans of Swing", το οποίο έχει καθιερωθεί εδώ και χρόνια ως ένα από τα πιο εντυπωσιακά τραγούδια  Με πάνω από 1,1 δισεκατομμύρια streams  συνεχίζει να αποδεικνύει ότι υπάρχει πάντα όρεξη για όμορφη και εκλεπτυσμένη μουσική

 
Καμιά φορά η συμμετοχή σε ένα τραγούδι και σε μερικές συναυλίες μπορεί να σηκώσει σκόνη γύρω από το όνομά σου. Ο    έπαιξε κιθάρα (μαζί φυσικά με τον Mark Knopfler) στο The Man's Too Strong για το album Brothers in Arms των Dire Straits το 1985, συμμετείχε σε κάποιες συναυλίες της μπάντας εκείνη την περίοδο, συνεργάστηκε και με κάποιους άλλους πριν εγκαταλείψει την μουσική και γίνει στέλεχος marketing σε διάφορες εταιρίες και συγγραφέας αργότερα. Ο αποκαλούμενος "άλλος κιθαρίστας" πέθανε πριν από τρεις ημέρες στα 68 του.

Θυμαμαι το '78 σαν φοιτητης στην Θεσ/νικη οταν αγορασα τον δισκο, ποσο με ειχε εντυπωσιασει... Τοτε ακουγαμε μονο πανκ, οποτε το black out που παθαμε με αυτο που ακουσαμε, ηταν σοκαριστικο.... Ακολουθησε το δευτερο σοκ, οταν αντιληφθηκαμε οτι αυτος ο ηχος ηταν απο Βρετανικο και οχι Αμερικανικο γκρουπ(!).... Τελικα αποδειχθηκε οτι ειχα αγορασει εναν απο τους καλυτερους pop/rock δισκους που εχουν κυκλοφορησει ποτε.....
